Jeffrey Friend

Drums & Vocals

Originally From: Troy, Ohio
Years Played: 54 years (yeah, I'm old, started at age 8)
Previous Bands: Vocal Point, The Late Show, Starliner, The Mary Jane Band, Relic, SlipHazard, Eldorado Brown, Groove Elation

Influences/Favorite Players: First and foremost...Ringo Starr. He's the one who started it all for me during The Beatles first performance on the Ed Sullivan show. Of course I could name lots of inspiring drummers like John Bonham, Steve Gadd, Dennis Chambers, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Peter Erskine and Marco Minnemann, but the guy who really inspired and encouraged me from the very beginning was my dad, Mickey Friend. If it weren't for him, I'd not be involved in music today.

Most Memorable Music Moments: Opening for Back Oak Arkansas at McGuffy's, working with trumpet great Doc Severenson and BB King on music for TV commercials (I got to tune Lucille), hanging out with Joe Walsh backstage at an Eagles show (yes, he really is crazy), talking drums with William Ludwig III (the inventor of Vistalite Drums), playing for Bose at Sweetwater's GearFest, and performing at Great American Ballpark with Southbound.
